Hi there! I’ve been soo derailed lately! Late dinners, wine, super processed foods, and more food! 😛

It’s overrr!! At least for a while hihi!

So here’s my kickass morning start to stop the vicious cycle 😉 :

WAKE UP!!!!

If you are like me and don’t have a traditional schedule you still have to try and wake up early every day, make it a personal routine. In ayurveda they say we should wake up at sunrise, but take it easy if you are a bed lover. Try to go to sleep with a light stomach, you will sleep much better and it won’t be so hard to get out of bed early in the morning the next day ;). Moreover, you will feel so light and pure the next day that you will only want to do good to yourself.

GET IT ALL OUT!!!

a) When you rise in the morning be sure to go to the toilet straight away to empty your bladder (and bowels, if your digestive system is in order). This helps to kick start the digestive system and eliminate toxins that have built up overnight.
b) Blow your nose as this helps to increase the oxygen intake, and cleanse the channels – the gateway to the nadis. Breathing through the nose is much better than through the mouth, believe me!!!
SHAKE IT UP!!!
Having an empty stomach is the perfect time to get moving in the morning. Before you have breakfast, be sure to fit in your yoga practice. This may be to your favorite DVD or Youtube video, or being creative and intuitively guiding yourself through a self-practice, or even simply turning your world upside down into your favorite inversion for 5 minutes. Inversions help to flush blood from the feet to the internal organs, whilst energizing your lymphatic system. I like just to put my self upside down for a few minutes just to irrigate my hold body and really stretch my column after sleeping for many hours. If you aren’t familiarized with yoga, just having a good morning stretch will be a total plus for your body for the rest of the day :).
SEASON IT UP!!!
A delicious morning ritual to get straight in and cleanse your digestive system is to drink a fresh cup of Lemon, Honey, and Ginger Tea. To make this simply grate some fresh ginger, place it in your favorite cup and cover with hot water. Squeeze in some fresh lemon. Give it a stir. Allow the tea to sit for a couple of minutes, before adding raw honey (heating honey too high means losing many of its nutrients, hence using raw honey and adding once the tea is warm, and not hot). if you don’t really like lemony ginger drinks.. just try to stay out of coffee and sugary processed foods which will only keep on adding toxins to your body. Try with some glasses of water, then some fresh fruit (eat fresh fruit alone so that it digests correctly and it doesn’t cause you bloating).. take it slow, but make good choices ;).
PUMP IT UP!!!
After drinking your tea, and allowing it a little time to move through the body, get stuck into a healthy breakfast. In Ayurveda it is believed that breakfast is not necessarily the biggest meal of the day. This is due to the fact that we are breaking the fast, and too much food can shock the digestive system. Find a breakfast option that suits you best. I promise you that taking care of yourself and nurturing the soul with good habits will take you anywhere you want!!!
